Perak - Places of Interest - Lumut

LUMUT

Mainly a fishing village, now it house the country’s principal naval base and a port which services the industrial estates nearby. It is also one of the venues for sailing regattas and the hop-over point from mainland to the charming Pangkor Island. Lumut most popular beach is Teluk Batik, a long stretch of white sand where the Pesta Laut Lumut or Sea Carnival is held annually between October and November. Sea-sport competitions, exhibitions and cultural shows attract thousands of visitors during the carnival.

In 1915,William Kellie Smith, an English rubber planter commissioned the construction of this mansion which was never completed. It is believed that this mysterious mansion has hidden rooms and secret tunnel.
